Why putting adsense on Webmaster Blogs ain’t such a good idea.
If you have keen eyes , you will have noticed that most big boys about internet money making like John Chow or Shoemoney DO NOT place adsense on their blogs.
Now, most people will ask themselves this:
” Adsense is a great revenue maker and there isn’t any harm to implement it. So why aren’t they doing it? ”
Here’s your answer :
Most of the viewers of these sites are webmaster who suffer the syndrome of Ad Blindness.
This disease is considered incurrable and so wretched that most people do not know they have it! Basically , It makes you blind to adsense ads.
On a more serious note , this ‘’syndrome” is explained by the fact that , if you are a knowledgeable webmaster, you implement adsense on your own creations but you voluntarily block them out of your vision for you are afraid of accidentaly clicking on them and getting the big bad google slam.
These person will always block out of their mind , involuntarily most of the time, any adsense they see.
What happens afterwards? Most Money making blogs will get a very low CTR as their audience is ad blind thus giving no actual purpose to implementing it except for looking a bit too spammy.
Any blog targeted towards a webmastering spectatorship will perform poorly in terms of advertisement.

I agree completely. I have several sites on various topics, and the stats are clear, the more savvy users do not click the adsense adverts.
They are, however, more inclined to clicking advertisement banners for larger offers if you have a post or two saying nice things about them, so it is quite possible to monetize webmaster-targeted blogs/sites, you just have to know your audience a bit better.

I have to disagree. Adsense is a great monetizer and it still outperforms every other program I use. The trick is sneaking the ads into your content. I’ll give you a big tip/trick here…
Use Adsense on the comments page of your blog, use a “link unit”, not a banner style ad and place it right after the Submt button. You’ll be suprised how many clicks you get.

I’m siding with you. The only place I use AdSense is on my made-for-adsense sites.
On my content blogs I use other monetization tools, but I am interested in what WebmasterTools has to say. It might be worth a case study!
